The city’s stunning green Victoria Park is a great place to spend a lovely evening. It has a long and rich history and was given the official name Victoria Park Nuwara Eliya in 1897 to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee. The Nanu Oya River flows through the park, enhancing its well-maintained beauty as a public park in Sri Lanka. This beautiful green park provides an excellent setting for relaxation during a trip to Sri Lanka as it is surrounded by several small lakes, making it an ideal spot for you to enjoy those amazing lakeside picnics with family and friends. From March to May and August to September, Victoria Park will be full of vibrant flowers which makes it the perfect time to visit the park during these months.
Birdwatchers will find Victoria Park even more attractive, as it is a great place to spot a variety of bird species. You may be able to spot fascinating birds, like the Kashmir flycatcher and the Indian pitta. Other than the park being a space for relaxation, it is a wonderful place for children. If you are traveling with kids, make sure to stop by, as Victoria Park has a mini playground and a scaled-down version of a rideable railway that your children can enjoy.
