Wildlife Expeditions

Endless adventures await

Sri Lanka is home to a wide variety of wildlife and there’s no doubt whether it is considered the name of a playground for animals and nature enthusiasts. The majority of the island’s wildlife can be found in national parks, the two most important of which are Ruhunu and Wilpattu. They’re mostly densely forested and are the ideal places for visitors to watch elephants. The best time to visit the wildlife in Sri Lanka is between December and May. There can be irregular rain showers early in the year, but you can also spot large herds of elephants with their little calves. Not only that, but at this time of year, you can see the lovely peacocks dancing in the rain which is worth visiting to see.

Wilpattu, Gal Oya, Udawalawe, and Lahugala are four other national parks that serve you amazing vibes of the mother of nature and are naturally designed with towering lush green trees,  natural tanks where vast flocks of water birds and herds of wild animals come to quench their thirst.

Your Go-To Guide for Wildlife

You may encounter unforgettable memories of wonderful elephant sightings in Uda Walawe National Park. There are many massive elephants at the location, and no other parks in Asia can compare. From early July to mid-October, Minneriya National Park is the site of the greatest elephant gathering in Asia. The Minneriya lake bed is surrounded by 300 to 400 huge elephants with their little calves.

You may spot the beautiful sambar deer and the herds of elephants at Minneriya National Park specifically during the time between May and September. Sinharaja Rainforest is a paradise for more than 140 beautiful bird species where you can see groups of gorgeous birds singing while dancing around the trees. From January to March, you can see elephants, leopards, sloth bears, deer, and even crocodiles in Wilpattu National Park, and they are frequently in groups. You may not miss this opportunity to discover these beautiful creatures because each park offers an unforgettable and thrilling animal experience.

Sinharaja Rainforest is one of the best sites to see colorful birds in Sri Lanka. This enchanted rainforest is home to around 140 distinct bird species. You may hear the lovely songs of birds while you travel through the lush green forest. You may not take your eyes off these colorful feathery creatues such as the Sri Lankan Blue Magpie and the Red-faced Malkoha.
